Could you be a Wild Kid?

Starting on 7th October 2026, Wild Pets is recruiting 20 children aged between 8-13, living in Devon, to become Wild Kids. The lucky 20 will be given a breeding pair of harvest mice to look after at home between March and September 2027. All the mice will then be released together in September 2027 to form a new wild population.

Please read the Application T&C and the FAQ for Parents, documents before applying.

With your parent or guardian, please fill out the application form at the link above. The application form will ask you to submit a short video telling us about your passion for wildlife and how you help nature at home.

If you are shortlisted, we will contact you and your parent/guardian using the information on your application form.

Applications to be a Wild Kid will close on 1 December 2026, but applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and successful Wild Kids may be selected and announced throughout the application period. This means that places may be filled before the final competition deadline, so we encourage families to apply early.

Inclusion Statement

Wild Pets warmly welcomes participants from all backgrounds, cultures and abilities. All activities will be supported by a parent or guardian, thus reducing barriers to any child taking part.
